Genshin Impact - How To Enable Multi-Factor Authentication In Your Account

Genshin Impact finally implements 2FA account verification as a security measure for PC and Mobile, after months of struggling with hacked account cases.

Back in April, MiHoYo announced in a Q&A that they were working on a Multi-Factor Account Verification method to improve the security of their players.

That method was implemented on May 17th, and it will activate whenever you logged on from another device, sending you a code to input every time you log in from a new device. Once activated, you can’t opt it out.

How To Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

To activate 2FA in your Genshin Impact account, you need to have an e-mail address or phone number linked to your account, which you can do here. Go to Account Security Settings, and you will be able to link several social platform accounts, as well as your email and phone number. You can’t unlink any of them after you’re done.

How Does 2FA Work In Genshin Impact

After linking either one or both, you will have 2FA activated, and every time you log into the game from an unrecognized device, you will receive an e-mail or a text message with a code you will need to input to access your game. Keep in mind, if you already had a phone number or email account linked, you automatically have 2FA unlocked.

You can also use the Linked Devices section to monitor all the registered devices that logged into your account successfully. It is recommended to check it out frequently in case your security was compromised or you need to block access from any specific device.
