The Witcher 4 has big shoes to fill, with many fans curious about how the next installment can surpass its predecessor. While we wait for more details, CD Projekt Red is hoping manpower is enough to stick the landing, as this entry has the series’ biggest development team thus far.

During the company’s Q3 2023 earnings, it was revealed that over 60% of the company is working on the RPG. CD Projekt Red has been working on the new Witcher game after their work on the Cybrounk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion.

If this report is anything to go by, it seems that CD Projekt Red is going all in on The Witcher 4. This makes sense since The Witcher 3 was their most acclaimed title in a long time, so the sequel has a lot to live up to.

Unfortunately, actual details on the sequel are still slim pickings, with nothing particularly new added about the upcoming project. Granted, video game development is difficult and we’d rather a game be late instead of rushed, but we’re just greedy is all.

CD Projekt Red did confirm that The Witcher 4 won’t be using REDengine anymore, moving on to Unreal 5. That’s one of the reasons why Phantom Liberty is the only expansion in Cyberpunk 2077 since the company won’t be using this engine anymore.

Fans will continue to see more of Geralt beyond his fourth game, as the character also has a remake coming soon. More Witcher games are a major priority to CD Projekt Red right now, including a remake of the first game.

After the success of the third game’s console ports, CD Projekt Red also confirmed that the new game’s console ports will be a major priority. Players should expect to use a controller with the new game just fine, once it comes out.
