Switch exclusives have quickly become a victim of early leaks, and the upcoming Super Mario RPG isn’t exempt from that, unfortunately. Like Pikmin 4 and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom before it, fans have managed to find the ROM online, playing it on devices that aren’t the Switch.

Twitter user OatmealDome has confirmed that this highly-anticipated SNES remake has made its way to the wild, warning fans of spoilers. While some have argued that this is a remake of a pretty old game, the user points out that there are fans who haven’t experienced it.

Naturally, we won’t be sharing any links to the Super Mario RPG leak, but curious fans can probably find it pretty easily. After all, this isn’t the first major Switch exclusive to get leaked and there’s a good chance that it won’t be the last.

Unfortunately for Nintendo, a number of their Switch exclusives have been leaked over the past few years. Luckily, the Switch is so popular that leaks don’t seem to hurt the sales of these games at all. Metroid Dread is the best-selling entry in the franchise, while Pokémon Scarlet and Violet continue to sell well, despite well-known performance issues.

Fans everywhere are excited to try out the Super Mario RPG remake, from newcomers who love the art style to veteran gamers looking to relive a classic. Piracy might deflate the news for some, but the huge install base that comes with the Switch should ensure good sales overall. If Metroid Dread, the best-selling instalment of an infamously low-selling franchise, can do well, this SNES remake should be fine.

Mario fans have been on cloud nine this year. The Super Mario Bros. Movie from Illumination was a huge success and could pave the way for more video game films. Super Mario Bros. Wonder for the Switch also did incredibly well, both critically and financially.
