Arthur 'Mr. Podunkian' Lee, one of the co-developers of Stardew Valley, is now working on a new life-sim game called Sunkissed Story and it looks gorgeous. No release date for the game has been released, but Mr. Podunkian has released a trailer and some gorgeous screenshots.
Mr. Podunkian announced the gorgeous-looking urban sim on Twitter, saying that he hopes to release it by Q4 2024. Currently, this new game is only planned for PC, but there is hope that the game will come to the console if the demand is there.
“As a fresh hire for the monolithic Pico corporation's new "Peco Pioneer" pilot program, you've been tasked with fostering a relationship with Apollo's vibrant community and putting in a good word for Pico's new eco-focused initiatives,” as described by Steam.
Despite being advertised as an urban life sim, Sunkissed Story also revels in the surreal, so fans don’t have to worry about this being too realistic. Like Stardew Valley before it, there are going to be some fantasy monsters for the players to tackle, so this is great for gamers who love combat.
Luckily, this new game also has its moments of farming, essentially making this a Stardew Valley title in the big city. There’s a good mix of grounded and surreal moments that will be packed throughout the game, which should make for a fun experience. Players can also travel through the city with a bike, which is always good for a breezy experience.
It will be interesting to see if Sunkissed Story ends up having a similar legacy to Stardew Valley, which would be great for the developer. Anyone familiar with Stardew Valley knows that this is a long-running farming sim that still gets support to this day. Considering how the game started as a single-player title, seeing it get multiplayer and a ton of changes is pretty crazy.
