The watches Bethesda sold you in the pricey Constellation Edition of Starfield won't withstand a trek to space. Just over a month after release, fans are experiencing numerous issues with the pricey collectable, with some users having completely useless watches. Talk about having a bad time.
Over on Reddit, several buyers have reported having their watches brick themselves overnight. Some stopped working after a month or so, others even after a few weeks. It seems that the software just will collapse on itself after a while with users reportedly having barely taken the watches out for a spin and leaving them to charge overnight.
Bethesda has been contacted by several users and while the original Reddit poster has been contacted to send the watch back, others haven't had the same experience. Another user reported to have "been exchanging emails with Bethesda support for almost a month now." Other users report that the watches have been basically useless as the firmware would fail to update and the Bluetooth connection would also not work as it should.
Some users commented that "gamers should know better than to actually use the items that come in a Collector's Edition". In fact, many modern (and quite pricey) Special or Collector's Editions seem to feature items that were just made to be put in display and never really used (or even touched).
The watches in the pricey ($ 300) Starfield Constellation Edition were made by The Wand Company. They are the same company behind other special edition items such as the Fallout Pip-boy and the Star Trek Phaser and Rock Mood Light. They surely seem to have a quite solid track record.
It definitely won't be the last time that we'll see a item of dubious use in a pricey Collector's Edition. But, if you ask us, we would recommend that you just leave those pricey editions sealed. They will be worth more when, in the future, you will decide to get rid of them.
