For those who’ve invested thousands of hours into the likes of Skyrim and Fallout 4, the release of Starfield, which is now pencilled in for September 6, can’t come soon enough.

Regardless of what you want to see from the next showcase of Bethesda's venture into space or how many interstellar mods you plan to install once it arrives, the idea of being able to delve into a freshly curated game has RPG lovers of all stripes intrigued.

Currently, a few of the fans who’ve spent the last few months speculating and worrying about the seemingly sex-free game are discussing how they’d like to be able to traverse its distant world once their spaceships have touched down.

How do you hope to get around once you’ve arrived on one of Starfield’s planets?

Their extraterrestrial transport thoughts are the subject of a recent thread on the Starfield subreddit, which began with a post from user Ghost7579ox, who kicked things off by asking: “Which types of land vehicles do you want to see in Starfield?”

A number of their fellow spacers drove by the thread to offer suggestions as to what they’d like to be able to purchase from the galaxy’s array of dodgy used car salesmen, with many of their suggestions taking inspiration from their sci-fi universes.

For example, user adni86 declared: “(A) Mako with the same control scheme as in (the) original Mass Effect.” and Dattguy04 admitting: “Not gonna lie, I wanna build the Mammoth from Halo and use it as a mobile base.”

On the other hand, user Reasonabledwarf argued that these wheeled automobiles might not cut it, saying: “I can't imagine anything without legs being of any use on the rocky, broken terrain we've seen in all the trailers so far, and anything over a certain size would be unrealistic due to ground pressure concerns, so...the D-Walker from Metal Gear Solid V?”

User MASmarksman, meanwhile, added some more unique transport-based ideas to their request for Star Wars-style speeders, mentioning the possibility of electro-magnetic propulsion for biomes too muddy to be ideal for wheels and suggesting they’d like to see the game include some bulky specialised vehicles to aid the player’s mining efforts.

Others had seemingly left it up to Bethesda to work out how to integrate their interesting proposals in a lore-friendly manner, with Kindly_Dig1896 simply saying the word: “Skateboard”, Less_Ad_6302 uttering: “(A) bicycle” and Cracksoldier putting in an order for a Dodge Charger.
