Spider-Man Miles Morales Preview Reveals Ray-Tracing Info, Boss Battle and New Moves


Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to launch alongside the PlayStation 5 next month, and a new preview has revealed a wealth of information about the game.

The latest issue of Game Informer reveals details about the game's visual modes, loading times, and even a sneak peek of a boss battle.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Details Revealed

While the game will offer Performance and Fidelity modes, we now know what'll be included in each.

The Performance mode will run at 60 frames-per-second in 4K, while the Fidelity mode will run at 30 frames-per-second and include ray-tracing and other visual upgrades.

We also know that the game is free of loading times, meaning players can swing through the city, jump into missions, or trigger cutscenes without needing to load at all.

A new Photo mode adds customisable lighting, while a new app on Miles' phone will allow him to track crimes.

We also know that an early boss battle is "far larger in scope than anything seen in the first game”. More details after the trailer below.

That battle will be against Rhino, with Miles coming up against fewer enemies than Peter Parker did in the main game, but he'll have a new set of "Venom" moves to help when he does.

Not to be confused with the iconic villain, these moves will add new power to his moves and turn him into "an entirely different Spider-Man".

Used in conjunction with a Venom Meter, he'll be able to jump higher, deal more damage, and glow with newfound power.

Fans will also be pleased to know that there are a wealth of suits to unlock, with Game Informer finding six in its demo playthrough.

Following the preview, writer Andrew Reiner was taking questions from fans via Twitter and noted that Miles has his own set of swinging animations.

Reiner also noted Miles is "less sure in his movements and relies more on his legs for momentum", which makes sense since the character is canonically afraid of heights.
