Modders have put an awful lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the years since it was first released into the world.

Many have focused on changing the game by adding new unmarked locations, fresh movement animations, and tougher bandits to it, with a few even going as far as completely rejuvenating the unique abilities offered to each of Tamriel’s races or giving you the chance to become high priest of your own temple.

If you’re the kind of player who likes to spend a lot of time revelling in the glory of nature and making the Tamrielic wilderness your home, a new mod might be worth taking a look at.

Feel like adding some insect-inspired accessories to your Skyrim character?

The mod in question is called ‘Butterfly Wing Adornments’, and is the work of modder unamazement. Some of their previous projects have given you the keys to a pocket sanctuary and the chance to travel with a sassy mage companion.

This time, they’ve decided to add 15 different sets of craftable butterfly and moth wings to the game, which can be worn by the Dragonborn as an accessory that’ll certainly suit any nature-themed or high fantasy-inspired builds.

In order to make yourself a pair of these whimsical appendages, you’ll need to hunt down one of the many wild green, blue, and orange butterflies gently floating around the province and bring the wing alchemy ingredient it’ll drop when caught to a blacksmith’s forge.

Here, you’ll be able to combine this wing with one of the linen wrap bundles often found in ancient Nordic tombs to create your wings, though you can also use console commands to transport yourself to a cheat room where you’ll find them all ready-made if this is too much work.

Sadly, unlike the various sets included in lDelta6l’s massively popular ‘Animated Wings Ultimate’, unamazement’s works won’t immersively flap and allow you to live your dreams of flying across Skyrim, but they’re still pretty cool regardless.

Regardless of whether you’re now showing off your new wings to Nazeem in order to try and make him jealous, make sure to follow us for more updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 and the interesting world of Skyrim modding. You can also check out our mods of the month for March 2023.
