If you’ve ever felt like your Skyrim playthrough needs a little more RDR2-style wild west flavour, a new mod by Daermonster has you covered.

The mod is called "DMT's The Outlaw Josey Wales", and it adds a new follower to the game, inspired by the outlaw Clint Eastwood portrays in the classic western film the mod takes its name from.

The cowboy comes armed with a Dawnguard-style two-handed rifle courtesy of Enroys’ Lore Friendly Rifles of Skyrim mod, plus his own armoured horse and a dog, just in case one follower isn’t enough for you.

Daermonster has also done a good job of weaving the desperado into the in-game universe, with the mod’s description revealing:

“The legion murdered his wife and son in an attempt to draw him out of his hiding. His dog Daisy and his horse Pale Rider are all that's left of the destruction of his family's High Plains Hamlet (West of Rorikstead). Help him quench his vengence against the pathetic Empire and their elven overlords.”

So, get ready to don your stetson and delve into battles with the forces of order in Skyrim’s civil war, rather than the lawmen and other gangs that oppose other gaming outlaws like Arthur Morgan and John Marston.

Possible future plans for the mod could also see the outlaw become fully voice-acted, add in a small quest linked to the films that inspired the mod, or see other western heroes like John Wayne also become Skyrim followers. Be sure to stay tuned for updates.

You also shouldn’t have to worry too much about the mod’s compatibility with your existing load order, as Daermonster used the Modmapper utility, which shows the most modded areas of Skyrim’s map, allowing modders to avoid conflicts with other work when making it.
