Scarlet and Violet: Paldean Fates brings back shiny Pokemon to the TCG

The Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) is set to dazzle fans with its latest expansion, Scarlet and Violet: Paldean Fates, launching globally on January 26, 2024. Taking cues from the beloved Hidden Fates and Shining Fates series, this special expansion reintroduces shiny Pokemon to the Pokemon TCG, this time showcasing over 130 species from the Paldea region.

With over 240 new cards to collect, including more than 100 shiny Pokemon and an array of EX-cards, Paldean Fates is poised to be a spectacular and major addition to the Pokemon TCG universe. Collectors and players alike can look forward to snagging shiny versions of fan favorites like Pikachu, Ceruledge, Tinkaton, and Dondozo.

This only scratches the surface of what will be included in the Paldean Fates expansion. Alongside these cards, there will be debuts for the new shiny Tera Pokemon-EX cards, including the iconic Charizard EX. Additionally, there will be six hyper-rare cards included in the expansion, the identities of which are yet to be confirmed.

All in all, the highlights of Scarlet and Violet: Paldean Fates include:

• 11 Shiny Pokemon-EX cards
• Seven Pokemon-EX and three Tera Pokemon-EX cards
• Three illustration rare cards and eight special illustration rare cards
• Six hyper-rare Pokemon-EX cards

Fans aren't only excited about getting their hands on these new cards. Many can't wait to see the new art that will be produced of the shiny Pokemon that will be covered in the expansion. Moreover, the six hyper-rare Pokemon-EX cards will be adorned with a never-before-seen raised foil effect.

Players will be able to get their hands on cards from the Paldean Fates expansion in several forms. These range from the Elite Trainer Boxes, including the Pokemon Center-exclusive version with unique promo cards, to the Mini Tins and Premium Collections, each packed with a combination of booster packs, promo cards, and other collectables.

Ahead of the physical release, trainers can also get a digital taste of Scarlet and Violet: Paldean Fates, via the Pokemon TCG Live mobile app on January 25, 2024. This early access will allow players to explore the expansion ahead of its global release the following day.
