Finding out the sales numbers of games can be difficult, especially when they aren’t publicly revealed by the companies who sell them. While the Insomniac leak is a net negative, the fact that we now know how some Sony PlayStation exclusives sold is a small win in all this mayhem.

Sony only really touts their major game successes, like Spider-Man 2 or God of War Ragnarok, while often being quiet about their less successful projects. While the leak doesn’t detail the sales for every PlayStation exclusive, we do know the sales of projects from 2021 and 2020, alongside miscellaneous years.

Without further ado, here are some of the Sony projects that had their sales leaked (via the Gaming Leaks subreddit):

2021 games:

  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart - 2.34m
  • MLB The Show 21 - 1.606m
  • Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut - 1.494m
  • Returnal - 866k
  • Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection - 329k
  • Death Stranding Director's Cut - 210k

2020 games:

  • Spider-Man: Miles Morales - 10.184m
  • The Last of Us Part II - 9.636m
  • Ghost of Tsushima - 7.436m
  • Demon's Souls Remake - 1.857m
  • Sackboy: A Big Adventure - 1.289m
  • Predator: Hunting Grounds - 778k

It is somewhat disappointing to see titles like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart only amass 2.34 million in lifetime sales, showing how difficult it is to sell platformers these days. Seeing big remasters like the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and Death Stranding Director’s Cut sell under a million is also quite shocking. Returnal selling under a million also hurts, given its quality.

Unsurprisingly, Spider-Man: Miles Morales sold well for Sony, which is thanks to the well-known IP and success of the previous game. What is surprising are the poor sales for Predator: Hunting Grounds, since most of us expect more from major IPs.

Given the sales, we can sort of understand why the company increased the price of PS Plus recently. Most of us feel it was still an unwarranted move, but this is just how companies will react when some of their major exclusives don’t do well.
