Popular creator Nickmercs has promised 'a new chapter' with a teaser shared to Twitter promoting his move from Twitch to controversial streaming site Kick.
The FaZe clan member is not the first to join Kick, with several other content creators (namely xQc and Adin Ross) signing deals to use the platform alongside Twitch or exclusively. The teaser doesn't specify if Nickmercs is on an exclusive contract, but it certainly seems implied.
Nickmercs has consistently been one of the most viewed Call of Duty streamers on Twitch, and the announcement post has had many fans and fellow creators excited. Dr Disrespect, a fellow Kick streamer, comments "Yesssssssssss", while several other FaZe clan members voiced their support. Trainwreckstv, one of Kick's co-founders, commented that there was "no other way".
Despite Kick's reputation for lax rules and picking up streamers with toxic personalities, many see the website as Twitch's main competitor - its revenue split being 95% in the creators' favour is hard for many to pass on. Similarly, tips solely belong to creators, whereas Twitch operates on a 70-30 split.
The news comes just a few short months after Nickmercs was under fire for his controversial comments on Pride, implying that children should not be exposed to anything LGBT related in schools. This swiftly saw Call of Duty remove his operator bundles from their games, though Nickmercs has still not apologised for his comments at the time of writing.

One thing is for certain - Nickmercs wasn't the first, and he won't be the last. It'll be interesting to see if Twitch will respond to this news by signing other creators or if they'll simply be content to let him go.
