New Prince of Persia by Dead Cells developers is coming, but not to consoles

Prince of Persia fans are already having a great 2024 with the release of The Lost Crown in January and now they'll be able to enjoy a brand-new title by Dead Cells developers, Evil Empire, called The Rogue Prince of Persia.

Evil Empire is best known for helping co-develop the Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC, with The Rogue Prince of Persia being their first solo project. Players will take control of the Prince as he tries to save the land of Persia from a dark magic-wielding Hun invasion

While the news of an upcoming Prince of Persia is always a good thing for fans, they'll be disappointed to hear that The Rogue Prince of Persia will initially launch on PC via Steam as an early access project this May 14.

This doesn't mean the game won't come out on consoles at some point. For reference, Dead Cells' early access period started in May 2017, with the game launching officially in August 2018 on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

The reveal trailer showcases a very distinct art style that will certainly catch the eyes of fans almost instantly. It's vibrant, colourful and dynamic. It's a far cry from Dead Cells' pixelated art style, but it speaks to Evil Empire's intention to not sleep on its laurels and try something out of its comfort zone.

As mentioned in our preview, the game feels familiar to Dead Cells in all the best possible ways, if you're a fan of how weapons control and the pacing of each level you'll feel right at home. The Rogue Prince of Persia does fil a tad more challenging, so it's safe to say that those who relish the idea of tackling hard boss fights will have a look to look forward to.
