To celebrate the launch of Modern Warfare 3, Activision and PlayStation have teamed up and recreated the iconic Terminal map in a spectacular real-world tribute.

From the familiar airline check-in desks to the buzzing security checkpoints, Activision's recreation of the Terminal map provided a vivid walk down memory lane for attendees at Modern Warfare 3's launch event. The event even featured a special pop-up barber shop offering the iconic ‘Soap’ MacTavish mohawks.

Terminal is one of the most iconic maps in the Call of Duty franchise, first making its appearance in 2009's Modern Warfare 3. Set in an airport, players can navigate all the way from the terminal entrance to the plane. Its unique layout and design, including its renowned Hallway of Death, has made the map a staple among Call of Duty veterans.

Fans attending the Terminal event were able to try out Modern Warfare 3 for themselves, as well as meet their favourite Call of Duty content creators. Moreover, celebrities including Fran Kirby and Alex Iwobi also made an appearance at the event, getting amongst fans to try out Sledgehammer Games' new title. Fans were also treated to performances from Chase & Status and Bou as they experienced the recreated Terminal.

Others have decried the game's hefty triple-A price tag, given the lack of new content in Modern Warfare 3, citing that the game feels more akin to a DLC than a major full release.

Arguably, the nature of the Terminal event further highlights how Activision may have been resting too heavily on its laurels with the release of Modern Warfare 3. Given that the game has been criticised for the lack of new content, the Terminal event aligns with the narrative of Activision being overly reliant on nostalgia to make Modern Warfare 3 a success,
