Leak claims remastered Modern Warfare 3 campaign is ready to launch

Following the remasters of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, fans of the franchise continue to wonder if Activision has one final remaster in store. Often overshadowed by its prequels, Modern Warfare 3 brings the original trilogy to a fitting conclusion with a blockbuster campaign involving Task Force 141 once more.

Since the launch of the remastered Modern Warfare 2 campaign, rumours surrounding a Modern Warfare 3 remaster have dwindled after Activision confirmed there are no plans to complete the trilogy.

However, a recent leak claims the remaster is complete and is ready to launch whenever the publisher has plans to do so.

Modern Warfare 3 remastered is ready

The latest leak comes from notable Call of Duty leaker @TheGhostOfHope whose source says the remastered campaign isn’t cancelled.

“MW3 Campaign Remastered isn’t cancelled like previously reported,” claims the source. They follow up claiming “it is complete and is just sitting there” indicating Activision is waiting on the right time to launch it.

With the focus returning to the Modern Warfare series following a year split between World War II and the Pacific era, there’s always a chance Activision could release it in the not-too-distant future.

Considering there are rumours of no new Call of Duty title launching in 2023, releasing the Modern Warfare 3 campaign would make plenty of sense. The publisher recently revealed that there are still plans to release “premium” content and if it’s not an entirely new game, a remaster or a standalone zombies title seem the logical options.

As always, it’s important to take leaks with a pinch of salt until official confirmation emerges but in the meantime, the prospect of another remastered campaign to round off the original Modern Warfare trilogy is an exciting one.
