Sony intends to launch a Modern Warfare 3 PlayStation 5 bundle as part of its existing exclusivity deal with Call of Duty publisher Activision.

Spotted at the end of a Modern Warfare 3 trailer by CharlieIntel, the bundle is expected to include a copy of Sledgehammer Games' latest project, a console, and the PlayStation-exclusive Lockpick Operator pack.

The bundle includes a skin for the Lockpick Operator, the AMRican Gothic weapon blueprint, and the Starry Knife combat knife weapon blueprint. Those who have pre-ordered Modern Warfare 3 can also get their hands on the bundle which unlocks when the game releases on November 10, 2023.

Modern Warfare 3 is the final Call of Duty title that will fall under Activision's exclusivity deal with Sony. As a result, Xbox and PC users won't have the ability to access the Lockpick bundle until November 9, 2024, which is likely to be a few days before 2024's Call of Duty title releases.

The days of PlayStation-exclusive Call of Duty content are numbered. Microsoft's long-awaited acquisition of Activision could close during the week ending on October 15, much to the delight of fans already preparing for the franchise to appear on Game Pass.

With the deal finally nearing the finishing line, Call of Duty remained a sticking point for Sony as Microsoft outlined its plans to acquire the publisher. In July 2023, Sony caved in, signing a deal to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for the next ten years.

Bundling a game alongside a console isn't anything new. The majority of triple-A releases are often packaged together with a console to entice potential customers and with Modern Warfare 3 expected to prove a hit compared to its predecessors, there's one last chance for Sony to cash in on the final stages of its deal.

Alongside the Lockpick cosmetics bundle, there's a chance this is one of the last Activision collaborations with PlayStation before Captain Price and co. head to the green team.
