While many GTA players are just trying to enjoy their remaining time in Los Santos by filling up their new 50-car garage with exotic cars or working their way through Last Dose missions, some are already looking forward to GTA 6.

After all, aren’t you curious to see what kinds of vehicles will be available in the new game, how it might incorporate mechanics from other titles, or whether you’ll be tasked with saving the world during your first playthrough?

Though all of this likely won’t be known until the game finally arrives, some prospective players have been discussing whether they’d like Rockstar to include a beloved feature from retro GTA games in its next title.

Do you want to be able to recruit a crew of gang members in GTA 6?

Their squad-based sentiments form the subject of a recent thread on the GTA 6 subreddit, which began with a post from user Yakuzahhz, who kicked things off by declaring: “GTA 6 should have a gang recruitment system.”, citing their love of the versions of this mechanic included in GTA San Andreas and GTA Vice City Stories.

A number of the other nostalgic criminals in the thread agreed that being accompanied by a party of like-minded people as you unleash the kind of havoc GTA games are made for can be fun, with user Jackontana declaring: “It's (so) satisfying to have a posse behind you, even in games where they aren't actually all that useful.”

However, others suggested that being able to command an army of hoodlums might not fit with the reported plans for GTA 6’s protagonists, with user Trainalf saying: “I'm not sure Jason and Lucia are gang leader types. (It) seems like they (might prefer to) take their own scores for the most part.”

Yakuzahhz responded to this by suggesting that if the system isn’t a fit for story mode: “(Your) online character choosing to affiliate with a gang would be cool.”

Meanwhile, some users proposed that the system might be a good reward for making it to the latter stages of the game’s main story, with Mynameishendrik saying: “Maybe they will evolve during the story and the whole Bonnie and Clyde thing will only be in the beginning of the game."

Similarly, GreatJobKiddo added: “Maybe the main characters (could) recruit bodyguards. (That) wouldn't be a bad idea later in the storyline when you are much richer.”
