The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth State of Play hit fans of the series with a ton of information, perhaps more than a lot would've wanted in terms of story, but with the awaited confirmation of a demo dropping on PlayStation 5.

The second part of the trilogy that sets to reinvent the original story (adding nods to spin-offs like Crisis Core) is set to release on February 29, with the State of Play showcasing the massive ambition Square Enix has for this title, both in terms of storytelling and the amount of content they packed into it.

You'll be able to play a few in the demo, including the piano minigame and a brand-new card game as well. On top of that, players will get to experience the initial demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth which includes the beginning flashback sequence at Nibelheim featuring Cloud and Sephiroth teaming up. And yes, you'll get to play as the One-Winged Angel himself.

Furthermore, creative director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that they'll be adding a secondary portion to the demo featuring sections of Junon, letting players get a feel for what the open-world portions of FF7 Rebirth will look like.

The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo is here!

At the moment, it's unclear if you'll be able to save your progress from the demo and keep it for the final game or not. However, it's highly unlikely since the demo for FF7 Remake did not do this.

It's also unclear if players will be able to unlock bonuses for the final game, like extra Materia or something similar, for completing the demo. Of course, we'll be updating this when more information drops, but as it stands Square Enix did not provide information about this.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released on February 29 exclusively for PlayStation 5. The game is a timed exclusive, so expect the title to drop on PC at some point in the foreseeable future. As for Xbox? Well, considering Remake is still not on Microsoft's platform, it's very unlikely.
