Stopping Sephiroth? No, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is all about Queen's Blood, a brand-new card game introduced with Square Enix's latest RPG that's having so much popularity is making the developers consider "further expansions."

In an interview with Red Bull, game director Naoki Hamaguchi explained that the development team is aware of Queen's Blood's success with players and is looking into expanding the game after receiving positive feedback.

There are 145 cards in total. We haven’t decided anything in terms of future development for Queen’s Blood, but so far, the media who played it have provided very positive feedback on it, so we want to consider further expansions as a possibility

In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Queen's Blood starts as a relatively harmless but fun minigame and side activity players can engage with early, serving as a means for protagonist Cloud Strife to get acquainted with people he meets on his journey across Gaia.

As you progress through the game, Queen's Blood hides a much deeper and more mysterious secret, making it one of the most interesting side activities in the entire game. Not a surprise, considering two separate teams were working on the minigame, one for the actual mechanics, and one focused on the narrative aspect.

The team loved the game so much that they recreated a Queen's Blood board in real life, using it as a template for how the game would flow.

Queen's Blood boards? I'll take 10

The team loved the game so much that they recreated a QB board in real life, using it as a template for how the game would flow. If you ask me, I would love for real-life QB boards to be a part of Square Enix's plans in the future.

What's neat about Queen's Blood inclusion in Rebirth is that it's not only about beating opponents, at several points in the game you'll come across puzzles, similar to Chess ones, where you're presented with a specific scenario and a set of cards to solve it.

Is a spinoff game in the cards (no pun intended)? Only time will tell. For more Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, check out our review of what's possibly the strongest GOTY contender we've played this year.
