While they’ve since spent hundreds of hours dressing up their Sole Survivor, visiting friendly settlements or blowing up nuclear-powered cars, those who’ve played Fallout 4 all started out in the game by heading out of Sanctuary and straight towards their first boss battle.

Though the Deathclaw that shows up in Concord to greet those low-level vault dwellers who’ve just shot their way through a gang of raiders to save Preston Garvey and land their first suit of power armour first isn’t as much of a threat as those found later in the game, it still represents a pretty big challenge for those who’ve just begun their wasteland journey.

No matter how you approached killing the overgrown lizard, odds are it didn’t involve luring another of the game’s enemies a considerable distance in order to do the job for you, as one streamer has just managed.

Have you ever managed to pull off a kill this unorthodox in Fallout 4?

The Twitch and YouTube personality in question, Joov, accomplished this feat as part of a string of viewer-submitted quests that are proving just as wacky as those they completed in Skyrim earlier this year.

Having already dealt with missions to take the ghoul child you find hiding in a fridge out partying and amass an incredibly impressive drug collection, the streamer’s latest broadcast saw them take on a request to escort a Super Mutant Suicider all the way to the early-game encounter and have its explosion eliminate the Deathclaw.

First on the to-do list was a run through the mission to save Preston and the gang, which led to the target Deathclaw being spawned into existence, clearing Joov’s path to go and find the super mutant.

Once it was on the streamer’s tail, they started running and kept the creature at a safe distance, while also ensuring that it didn’t explode due to attacks from wasteland enemies, which is how their first attempt went up in smoke.

Thankfully, the second made it all the way to Concord, but ended with the Deathclaw easily dispatching the Suicider before it could explode, leading the streamer to quip: “he just parried (my) whole move”.

Soon, however, an attempt that saw no such last-minute Deathclaw heroics saw Joov successfully complete the challenge, with the Super Mutant blowing the large lizard to smithereens after the streamer had worn its health down and trapped it between two buildings.
