After its launch in 2022, the parkour-heavy zombie game Dying Light 2 has remained right at the top of the undead-slaying subgenre. Despite stiff competition from Dead Island 2, the newest Dying Light game plods on with constant seasonal updates.

In a video exclusive shared by IGN today (September 28), we've seen our latest glimpse at Dying Light 2's DLC roadmap, showing off exactly what to expect in the coming months.

While we still hold out hope for a Dying Light 3 release in the future, fans can rest assured that the current iteration of the franchise is still here for the long haul.

Are you looking forward to months' worth of Dying Light 2 DLC?

The Dying Light 2 DLC roadmap video was shared on YouTube by IGN, and is hosted by Tymon Smektała, Franchise Director for the series. You can catch the full video here:

Chief of all, future Dying Light 2 DLC is adding plenty more activities and missions to dive into. More co-op missions are on the way to enjoy the action with friends, alongside new Board quests, a Tower raid, the ability to replay Gre Anomalies, and more missions from the beloved NPCs Tolga and Fatin, who both appeared in the first game.

You can also expect more graphical options, which are coming in the form of a bloom toggle for environmental effects, and the long-awaited FOV slider on Xbox Series S. It's already been present on PS5 and Xbox Series X, so it's nice to see Microsoft's other next-gen machine catching up.

The fun doesn't stop there, with more inventory overhauls on the way. You can now repair weapons instead of scrapping them once they wear down. Alongside that, you can dismantle existing weapons and mods for raw materials needed for crafting.

More enemy types are on the way, with an electrified zombie looking particularly terrifying. There's also a zombie with a pincer-like mouth, reminiscent of the Predator, and a sword-wielding knight zombie. Fortunately, future updates will also make dead zombies dropped any weapons they're carrying, so you can wield Excalibur for yourself.

That's especially handy, because lots more weapons are arriving in Dead Island 2. Polearms and knives are on the way, plus a new weapon rarity, and the ability for thrown weapons to retain their elemental effects, like fire or electricity.

Also included in a final deluge of new feature announcements are cross-gen saves, text chat, more seasonal events for Halloween and Christmas, new customisation options, and plenty more. Oh, and did we mention firearms are finally being added to Dying Light 2?

There's no set release date for any of these aforementioned features, though it seems Techland will trickle them out throughout the rest of 2023 and early 2024. Regardless, it's an incredibly exciting time to be a Dying Light 2 fan!
