Ubisoft Is Producing a Live-Action Drive Series

A new live-action television series based on the Driver franchise is reportedly being developed by Ubisoft Film and Television (thanks GamesIndustry.biz)

The show will revolve around John Tanner, a former racecar driver and undercover agent and also the protagonist of the Driver game series. Tanner is doing what he does best: taking down a crime syndicate.

What that might look like and how it relates to the series is still unclear just yet, though there's plenty of material to work with. The most recent Driver game, Driver: San Francisco, released in 2011.

The show's air date is uncertain, but it will stream on Binge, a new platform set to launch in 2022. Producers for the Driver series will be Allan Ungar from Ubisoft Film and Television and Vince Talenti from Binge.

Ubisoft Moving Forward In The Entertainment Industry

The executive producers list includes Jason Altman (Orange is the New Black), Genevieve Jones (Dinner Party), and Danielle Kreinik.

This is one of the company's projects to further indulge in the film and entertainment industry. Last June, they kicked off the showing for Werewolves Within - the first film Ubisoft produced in history.

Kreinik and Altman are also producing Ubisoft's live-action Assassin's Creed series, and the publisher is working on a Splinter Cell series with Netflix.
