Dead by Daylight single-player project to be revealed at The Game Awards

Supermassive Games’ Dead by Daylight is getting a single-player game, but the company has been pretty quiet about its existence, outside of the announcement. It looks like we’ll finally see more of the game, as Supermassive has confirmed that a reveal will be coming at The Game Awards.

The horror multiplayer title’s official Twitter account confirmed that this single-player spinoff will be announced during The Game Awards, which is fairly exciting for fans. While it would have been a nice surprise during the show, there are other reveals to look forward to, so this “spoiler” is fine.

“We’ve been working hard to blend the tension, agency, and branching storytelling of a Supermassive game together with Dead by Daylight’s mythology to create an intense narrative experience filled with powerful life or death choices,” said Supermassive executive producer Traci Tufte (via VGC).

Beyond this announcement, very little is known about this new Dead by Daylight single-player game, though it should make for an exciting gameplay reveal. Supermassive Games are known for their more cinematic video game experiences, so we wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what the spin-off ends up playing like.

For those unfamiliar with Supermassive, they worked on Until Dawn and The Quarry, which are less like Resident Evil and are more similar to Heavy Rain. That means everything is more choice-based, so the writing will have to do a majority of the heavy lifting.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t even the first single-player Dead by Daylight spin-off, though it will likely be the first AAA experience. Many hardcore fans will remember how Hooked on You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim, which is, well, a dating sim based on the popular horror title. It was more of an amusing joke than anything else, albeit, one that fans of the franchise enjoyed going through.

The Game Awards will be taking place soon, on December 7, so Dead by Daylight fans should get ready for this show.
