Halloween in the deadly realms of Dead by Daylight has always been an event to look forward to. Previous years' spooky seasons have seen players collecting horrible-looking sap from even more horrible-looking plants, stomping on pumpkins for status effects, and working through unique Tomes for exclusive cosmetics.

One of the more exciting parts of each Halloween is the re-enabling of various items. Will O' Wisp flashlights, All Hallows' Eve Lunchboxes and Blight Serums give the game a wonderfully Halloween-y edge during the perfect season for it. Similarly, new Offerings help Survivors and Killers alike see more of the event's special generators and hooks to increase their bloodpoint gains.

A new teaser for Dead by Daylight's Halloween 2023 event was released today, with what looks to be ghostly possessions taking place. Set to begin on October 18th, the appropriately titled 'Haunted by Daylight' event will give players a unique experience to enjoy for around 3 weeks.

Shared on YouTube on October 3, 2023, the short trailer seemingly shows the game's leading man Dwight getting possessed by a never-before-seen ghost character. In the seconds leading up to the possession, a cracked hook can be seen emitting blue light and a twisting mass of blue energy shows that the game's maps might undergo some big changes.

Commenters were quick to share their excitement. One says: "Daring and innovative move to make the event blue instead of the cliche orange." Others enjoyed the idea of their characters becoming possessed by spirits, wondering if the event's theme could hint at a future killer and their powers.

It's also worth noting the trailer's thumbnail; two creepy spirits floating in a blue mass of energy could be a subtle hint. Survivors are used to running from Killers, and having blue tornados to avoid on top of that would certainly increase the stakes. Killers, meanwhile, may be able to use these to their advantage for a speed boost like the pumpkins of previous years.

Naturally, speculation turned to crossovers, with some believing the spirit seen in Dwight's eyes to have a close resemblance with Ryuk from Death Note. Dead by Daylight has previously collaborated with Attack on Titan with several Killer and Survivors cosmetics, so it's not outside of the realms of possibility.

Speculation aside, the event is sure to excite players as they get into the Halloween spirit. Haunted by Daylight will be available on all platforms on October 18th.
