The CCL x Gfinity Game Of The Year has come to a resounding conclusion, which means it is now time to reveal which title takes the crown as the best release of 2023.

We've kept you waiting around two weeks now, but the envelope has been unsealed after you guys had your say, revealing the standout champion that captured hearts, minds, and countless hours of gameplay alongside the individual taking home the 165Hz iiyama G-Master Red Eagle gaming monitor and a free copy of one of the nominated games courtesy of CCL.

Without further ado, it's time to unfurl the banner of victory and raise a toast to gaming and gamers this year. It's been a great 12 months, and we can't wait to see what 2024 has in store. But first, here is this year's winner...

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

After a tough battle for the top spot, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 takes home the crown. Released back in October, it wowed fans and ourselves (as highlighted in our review) with its killer storyline and its immersive open world where you can lose hours to it if you're not careful, simply through exploring alone.

The story takes place 10 months after the events of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, although this time you step into the shoes of both Miles Morales and Peter Parker to take on Kraven, who is out hunting villains in New York. Things eventually spiral out of control with the arrival of Venom though (don't worry, we haven't spoiled anything - the monstrous symbiote is in the trailer), adding a whole new sense of danger to the game's events.

This is pretty great because the story is essentially broken into two, with you battling both Kraven the Hunter and Venom, as well as an assortment of other villains, at different stages in the game. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 also presents a compelling MJ story as a journalist unsure of their place in the world in the background, plus develops Miles Morales and his character from feeling almost like a sidekick to becoming more of a main character throughout.

Overall, the game is an absolute gem and one you simply have to play. Right now, it's a PlayStation exclusive though, but there is rumour that Spider-Man 2 might be heading to PC soon. So, with something like this Horizon Titan Pro Gaming PC Bundle or, perhaps, a Horizon 5 Upgrader Pro monitor, PC, and keyboard, you can also play this fantastic superhero adventure on a desktop. For the time being, however, it's a great one to try out if you haven't already and you own a PlayStation system. If anything, its exclusivity makes its CCL x Gfinity Game Of The Year win even more impressive!

And that's it. 2023 is all wrapped up. Before we sign off, we'd like to thank CCL who helped make this award happen and provide the grand prizes. If you’re looking to play almost any of the amazing nominees over the holidays and into the new year, make sure you check out their fantastic selection of gaming PCs too - you won't be disappointed!
