A recent post from Need for Speed devs Stellar Entertainment has given fans hope that a new Burnout game is in development. Fans have wanted a new entry in the series for years and this teaser is the closest thing we’ve gotten to that in a very long time.
The Stellar Entertainment Twitter account posted an image that says “POV: You’re about to be ended,” which sounds like something we’d hear from the series. If that wasn’t enough to convince fans, the post itself also says “And the bosses still haven’t issued any take downs,” one of the moves you can nail in the game.
While we still don’t know if this will be a new Burnout game, fans have gone crazy since seeing the post. Given EA’s history, this could easily be a new Need for Speed game with a bit more sass than usual, but we have some hope.
Despite constant demand to bring the series back, EA has been very reluctant to greenlight a new Burnout entry, opting to give fans endless Need for Speed entries. To be fair, some of those Need for Speed games have been good, but that doesn’t mean EA should ignore fans like this.
Only time will tell if we get a new game in the series, but weirder things have happened. EA did bring back Skate and Dead Space, so the company’s recent nostalgia trend could keep going with the return of Burnout.
Fans haven’t gotten a new game in the series since Burnout Paradise back in 2008, which was two console generations ago. This entry did prove to be popular, getting remasters on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, but fans are hoping for a new game this time. Some fans might also settle for a remaster of previous games, but we’ll leave it to EA.
