$2 Million Prize Pool at Pokémon World Championships 2015


Details for this year’s Pokémon World Championships have been announced. 2015’s event will follow a new format with standard Double Battles being played in both Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

The competition will run from August 21st–23rd, 2015 in Boston, Massachusetts. at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center - where a prize pool of $2,000,000 will be up for grabs.

Some of the North American Winter Regional Championships took place over the last weekend with the St Louis, Missouri event streamed live on the Pokémon Twitch channel - a first for the Pokémon World Championships. A further US regional tournament will take place from Feb 28 - March 1st in Kissimee, Florida.

Those who want to compete in the Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championships will only be able to do so with an invitation from Pokémon Organised Play. Invitations are reserved for players with a high amount of championship points from past events.

Players not invited, however, can still attend and compete in side events and other activities. Check the event locator to see what's going on near you.
