Fortnite Is Getting A Facelift in Chapter 2 Season 7

It looks like the storyline won't be the only thing receiving an overhaul in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7. In a recent blog post, Epic Games revealed that Fortnite will be receiving a visual upgrade in the next season.

This new mode is dubbed the "Epic" mode, but it will only be available for PC players.

New setting modifications in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7

Once the new season arrives, you'll be able to see certain visual changes if you play on the "Epic" preset. The storm will look prettier than it was before. Not only that, lens flares and explosions will look cooler than they already do in the game.

That being said, since the "Epic" preset is getting a major overhaul, the previous "Epic" preset will now be known as the "High" preset. In addition, there's going to be an overall improvement in the shadow quality and the post-processing of the visual assets in the game.

Since the presets are getting an upgrade, it's only natural that they'll need higher resources to function optimally. So here are the new system requirements for the visual presets in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7.

Upgraded system requirements for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7

Here are the recommended system requirements if you want to run Fortnite on "Epic" quality:

  • Nvidia GTX 1080, AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, or equivalent GPU
  • 4 GB VRAM or higher
  • Intel Core i7-8700, AMD Ryzen 7 3700x, or equivalent
  • 16 GB RAM or higher
  • NVMe Solid State Drive
  • Windows 10 64-bit

That being said, the minimum and recommended settings for Fortnite stay the same, but the Nvidia GTX 960, AMD R9 280, or equivalent DX11 GPU will be the recommended GPU after the update.

Finally, Epic Games is also upgrading the recommended operating system to 64-bit Windows 10. However, you needn't worry if you've got an older operating system. Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7 will continue to run on 64-bit Windows 7 and Windows 8.
