Training Area

Get to know all the weapons, what their rate of fire is, how long they take to reload, what the bullet drop is like. This will serve you well when facing enemies who maybe don't know their guns so well.

You'll know what to look for, where to get them, and which weapons suit your style the best. Generally speaking, bolt-action sniper rifles are the best at distance and combat shotguns in city firefights, but you'll have to see what works best for you.

Learn To Build

If you've ever watched the pros play Fortnite, you'll know that building is key. And therefore, so are resources.

Harvest as much wood, stone, and metal as you can with your pickaxe in the early stages of the game and then learn how to make structures, and learn how to do it quickly. Good players can build multi-story buildings in seconds, and be situated at the top of them.

It might even be worth rebinding your keys so you can build a structure quicker if you're playing on PC. You can access key bindings in the settings and might find it easier than reaching for the number keys.

We recommend trying it on the scroll wheel of your mouse. Whatever it takes, get practising your building. Don't forget that higher ground is always optimal, so make sure you're Obi-Wan and not Anakin in any Fortnite scenario.

Building is also something that the new physics engine could change drastically, so look out for updates, patch notes, and check back here for more information as soon as it is released!

Know Where To Land

Landing is always tricky in Fortnite, especially in Solos. Do you pick a busy area with better loot and risk dying empty-handed?

Or, alternatively, do you opt for a quieter Point of Interest, and risk being left bereft of decent weapons when the fight eventually happens?

We'd recommend sticking down the middle. There are plenty of POIs on the edge of busy areas which offer great loot with a fraction of the players.

From there, with full shields and good weapons, you can head into the busy POI ready to fight. Check out our in-depth list of landing spots in our landing guide.

Keep An Eye On The Circle

Always know where the circle is, and when it's coming. The storm can chunk your health, especially later in the game, so it's important to never get caught in it.

Know where you are and where you need to be headed so you've got the environmental edge in any fight.

Communication with your team is key here, too, so they also don't get caught out. The last thing you want to be doing is reviving a teammate when the opposition has you pinned down with sniper fire.

Know the circle, respect the circle, don't die in the storm.
