Fortnite Season 7 is slowly drawing to a close. The season has been nothing short of a roller coaster. From invasions to concerts, this season has seen it all.
For the first time in a while, we also had three updates in three weeks. That's something that Epic Games doesn't usually do with Fortnite.
That being said, the next update on the list is the Fortnite 17.40 update. Here's everything that we know about the upcoming update.

Release date
The Fortnite 17.30 update went live on August 3rd. That being said, the next update will probably go live on August 17th. That's exactly two weeks from the last update.
According to the data miners on Twitter, the Fortnite 17.40 update is on the staging servers right now. That being said, the update will mostly arrive next week Tuesday itself.
Upcoming content
For now, we're assuming that we'll have the weekly challenges with the next update. The Rift Tour was an event but it wasn't a storyline event.
That being said, there is a storyline event on the cards but we don't know when it'll take place.
We should have more idea about that event once Fortnite 17.40 goes live!
That being said, the major events in the storyline could begin right about now. Some major destruction is on the cards, and we might start getting a taste of those soon.
Other than that, there aren't any leaks right now. But we'll keep updating this piece as and when we have more information.
Oh, and the new update will also bring in more bug fixes, but you probably knew that already.
Back to School Challenges
With school starting back up again for most kids, it is possible the Back to School Challenges and cosmetics will go live with the 17.40 update.
The Back to School Weapon Wrap has been leaked, and there are rumblings that more may be in store.
New Story mode
Epic Games has been heavily teasing, what looks like more upcoming story mode content. Now, we all know that there exists a story mode in Fortnite, but it's locked behind a pay wall. Yes I'm talking about Save The World.
This new teaser that has been doing the rounds, I just hope it's not locked behind the paywall, because it does look very interesting.
