Shapeshifters was an event that debuted back in FIFA 20 in February, following on from the Future Stars and Winter Refresh events, and was an event centred around changing players’ positions and style of play, with position changes, rating boosts as well as strong foot changes.
There are however a few small doubts as to whether this event could return this year, with Carniball a likely promo set to return, which could arrive at the same time, as well as the introduction of the Rulebreakers promotion earlier in the year, which included similar changes to stats to shift the style of play.
Nevertheless, here’s all the info regarding the event, ranging from the Shapeshifters team, expected release dates, potential card designs, content and everything you need to know to get prepared for the promotion.
Shapeshifters Release Date
Shapeshifters debuted around this time last year in FUT 20, starting on February 21st, and ending on March 6th.
With no news as of yet surrounding the next upcoming promotion after Future Stars, could we possibly see some form of Shapeshifters news by this Friday, February 19th, which could see the promotion run until Friday March 5th?
It’s very possible that Shapeshifters could be the next promotion in line for FUT, or we could see a return of Carniball from last year, that would obviously push the event back a couple of weeks.
Shapeshifters Card Design
So far, we haven’t had any official Shapeshifters card designs through, however we’ve had some awesome concepts drawn up, and this is what the Shapeshifters card could look like in FUT 21!
Shapeshifters will be yet another promotion that will be heavily focused around the pool of packable players released over 2 weeks, with 2 different teams available.
Last year we saw both Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo released into the Shapeshifters event, with positioned changed items from their regular cards, as well as a strong foot change for CR7 to make him a left-footed player.
Should this event return in FUT 21, there’s potential to really make some awesome cards here that will dramatically impact the FUT meta.
Other Expected Shapeshifters Content
Alongside the squads of packable players, Shapeshifters will feature plenty of other types of content to enjoy, including:
- Shapeshifters & Flashback Player SBCs
- Upgrade & Pack SBCs
- FUT Birthday Objectives
- Promo Packs
Shapeshifters, Player Moments & Flashback Player SBCs
Last year in FIFA 20, we had a tonne of Player SBC content throughout Shapeshifters, including Shapeshifters Mkhitaryan, Plaza, Zakaria, Mackay-Steven and Kolarov, with Player Moments SBCs including Kimmich, Sergio Ramos and Trezeguet, with Flashback SBCs including Wayne Rooney and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Expect this sort of SBC content to return in FIFA 21’s Shapeshifters Event.
Upgrade & Pack SBCs
Definitely expect upgrades to return for Shapeshifters in FUT 21, with things like the 2x81+, 82-88, 83+ and 80+ Player Picks returning.
As is the case with all promotions, look out for objectives themed around Shapeshifters, for both players, packs and other items.
Promo Packs will also be a staple of the event, with lightning rounds at peak times around the release of the Shapeshifters squads, and daily store refreshes of high-value packs.
