Bastian Schweinsteiger - 91 CM

To kick-off our German (and very Bayern Munich themed) Icon Wishlist for FIFA 21, we have Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Regarded as one of the best midfielders of the generation while in Germany, Schweinsteiger possessed all the attributes needed in a top central midfielder, with excellent passing variety, a fearsome shot from range, as well as brilliant reading of the game defensively.

Being a World Cup winner with Germany, and one of the most decorated German footballers domestically, Schweinsteiger is more than deserving of an icon card in FIFA 21.

Oliver Kahn - 93 GK

Top Teams: Bayern MunichCareer Apps: 867Career Clean Sheets: 322Top Club Honours: 8X Bundesliga, 6x DFB-Pokal, 1x UEFA Cup, 1x Champions LeagueInternational Honours: 1x European Champion

While there are some doubts over whether Oliver Kahn will become an icon in FIFA, due to past disagreements with EA Sports over image rights, it can’t be denied that he’s truly worthy of an icon card.

Nicknamed ‘Der Titan’ for his commanding and sometimes aggressive presence in between the sticks, Kahn is one of the most successful goalkeepers of all time, with four consecutive UEFA Best European Goalkeeper awards, as well as being the only keeper in the history of the FIFA World Cup to win the Golden Ball.

Philipp Lahm - 93 RB

Top Teams: Bayern MunichCareer Apps: 765Career Goals: 28Top Club Honours: 8X Bundesliga, 6x DFB-Pokal, 1x UEFA Supercup, 1x Champions League, 1x FIFA Club World CupInternational Honours: 1x FIFA World Cup

Philipp Lahm is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders of all time. Despite having over 700 appearances for club and country during his glittering career, he never once received a red card, largely due to his tactical intelligence and superb reading of the game.

A World Cup Winner, and again a true icon in Germany for his domestic achievements with Bayern Munich, Philipp Lahm is one of the most worthy recipients of an icon card in FIFA.

Gerd Muller - 95 ST

Top Teams: Bayern MunichCareer Apps: 638Career Goals: 583Top Club Honours: 4x German Champion, 4x DFB-Pokal, 3x Champions League, 1970 Ballon D’or WinnerInternational Honours: 1x FIFA World Cup, 1x European Champions

In a 17 year professional career spanning 3 decades, Gerd Muller’s goalscoring record is unlike many we’ve ever seen, nearly averaging a goal every game over 600+ matches.

One of the most prolific goalscorers the game has ever seen, Muller has the third-highest goal-to-game ratio of all-time internationally.

Gerd Muller would be a lethal finisher in FIFA Ultimate Team, and would be a worthy recipient of a top tier FIFA 21 icon card!

Franz Beckenbauer - 95 CB

Top Teams: Bayern MunichCareer Apps: 686Career Goals: 72Top Club Honours: 5x German Champion, 4x DFB-Pokal, 3x Champions League, 1972 & 1976 Ballon D’or WinnerInternational Honours: 1x FIFA World Cup, 1x European Champion

What more can be said about ‘Der Kaiser.’ Regarded by many as the greatest centre half in the history of the game, known for his elegant, yet dominant style, Beckenbauer is always referred to as having invented the modern sweeper role.

With 2 Ballon D’ors to his name, as well as countless domestic trophies with Bayern Munich, and a World Cup with Germany, Beckenbauer has to return to the icon roster in FIFA.

Having already had a Legend card back in FIFA 15 and 16, Beckenbauer deserves an updated, boosted card to match the likes of Maldini. A 95 rating is the least we’d expect for one of the best defenders to step on the pitch!
