Details surrounding The Last of Us 2 could be revealed to us on 24th September, 2019 in a media presentation hosted by Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment. The event promotion was posted to Twitter by games journalist and The Game Awards creator, Geoff Keighley with the caption “And...here...we...go! See you later this month.”

Despite the games announcement back in 2016, hardly any information has been released. With the game being so heavily focused on the story, Naughty Dog have kept things under wraps so as to avoid leaks and spoiling it for fans. That’s not to say people haven’t tried, gameplay footage was originally leaked by an attendee of the GameStop Managers Show on Twitter however the account has now been deleted.

So what can we expect from the presentation? Ideally the release date. There have been two dates thrown about by fans and the media. A retailer leak implied the game would be out sometime in OCT/NOV 2019 however considering we haven’t seen any marketing material out, it’s looking less and less likely. Kotaku’s news editor, Jason Schreier in a tweet “The Last of Us 2 was also planned for Fall 2019 but I actually just heard it got bumped to early 2020, possibly February? Either way, wild final year for PS4.”
