Is the PS5 Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG compatible?

So, you just got your new PS5 and you can’t wait for it to become your only way to play!

But we get it, the new UI of a next-gen console can sometimes not be the easiest to navigate.

We all need a little hand from time to time, so we’re here with a bunch of guides on how to do everything and anything on your PS5.

In this guide, we’ll let you know what the HDR capabilities of the PS5 are, so you can know just how beautiful your PlayStation 5 can be!

The news might not all be too great, but perhaps the PS5 could one day get an upgrade?

Is the PS5 Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG compatible?

No, is the short answer.

Unfortunately the only form of HDR the console has currently is regular HDR10.

The reason the console could get an upgrade though is that the console is HDMI 2.1-capable, a standard which can handle Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG.

Though for now PS5 players are out of luck.

This isn’t the first time Sony has pulled a stunt like this with their consoles.

Despite being a 4K Console, and that Blue-Ray technology is developed by a Sony division, the PS4 Pro lacked a 4K UHD Blue-Ray.

Given that Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG are fast becoming standards we hope that Sony start introducing them to the PS5 soon, perhaps via a firmware update.

Worst case the feature may never come at all or become a PS5 Pro feature, but the ‘For the players’ company wouldn’t want to annoy fans.

We’ll keep you updated if the situation changes!

We hope this helps, and check out our other guides for more guidance if you need it!
