The details for Gears of War 5 were shared with us at Xbox’s latest E3 press conference. We were treated to a release date, details on the campaign, horde mode, multiplayer, new weapons, and gamemodes.
The major focus for this game’s release is the story revolving around Kait, who featured in Gears of War 4, and the story behind her family’s past with how they connect to the Locust Horde.
Release Date
The Gears of War 5 release date is set for September 10th. The game is available for pre-order now on Xbox One, Microsoft Store and Gears of War 5 is coming to Steam!
Pre-Order Bonus
You can also gain access to the game for days early if you pre-order the Ultimate Edition or via Game Pass Ultimate.
For everyone that pre-orders the game, or plays within the first week, they will gain access to the ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ character pack; inspired by the latest Arnold Schwarzenegger film.
Gears 5 Road Map – Multiplayer, Horde & Campaign
Gears 5's reveal was revolved majorly around the timeline for the game’s release and when we can expect to see more on the various aspects of the game.
Here is the timeline for Gears 5:
- 17th July – Versus multiplayer tech test and new Gamemode called ‘Arcade’
- 19th August – Gamescom Horde Reveal
- 10th September – Campaign Reveal
Escape - New Co-Op Mode
A new 3v3 co-op experienced called ‘Escape’ will be included in Gears 5. What sounded like a great multiplayer gamemode, is actually a dedicated experience on it's own and sounds similar to Horde.
In Escape the COG have to infiltrate a Swarm Hive, plant a bomb and escape. They also mentioned the ability to ‘build your own hives’ and challenge your friends.
New Weapons, Executions, Custom Marks & Expressions
Attendees at E3 have been lucky enough to get hands on with Gears 5 and have been posting the menus from the new 'Escape' gamemode.
New Character 'Fahz'
Recently a new video was released showcasing a new character called 'Fahz'.
