Elite Series Street Fighter V - Semi Final Preview

After seven weeks of fierce competition, four teams have finally cemented their place in the semi-finals of the Elite Series.

Epsilon eSports, Team Infused, exceL and Team EnVyUs will battle for the inaugural crown of the Street Fighter V Championship of the Elite Series. In this article, I'll be previewing the semi-final matchups.

exceL v Epsilon

Our first semi-final will see exceL taking on Epsilon. Heading into the playoffs with the top seed, exceL have looked extremely impressive when it comes to Street Fighter. When these two teams previously clashed in the regular season of the Elite Series, it was Epsilon who emerged victorious, after a thrilling five game series.

In order for Epsilon to recreate their success, great performances from Takamura and Brick will be crucial to overcome the likes of Infexious and Hurricane.

Team Infused v Team EnVyUs

The #RedArmy will clash with the #BoysInBlue in the second semi-final of the Street Fighter V Elite Series.

Infused have been one of the most consistent competitors throughout the Elite Series and were on top of the standings before falling short in a few decisive game-five deciders. On the opposite end of the spectrum, EnVyUs have experienced their own rollercoaster of emotions over the last seven weeks. If they are to defeat Infused, Confz and Layo will have to be playing their best Street Fighter to beat ISDD & co.

Personally, I believe the first semi-final of the SFV Elite Series has the potential to go the entire distance. If Epsilon wish to advance to the Grand Finals, Takamura will need to ensure he wins both his matchups against the strong exceL roster.

However, if exceL are playing like we’ve seen in previous weeks, they could easily secure the series sweep.

Prediction: 3-1 Excel

The second semi-final is an entirely different story. Like Epsilon, Team EnVyUs have produced some phenomenal performances to earn their place in the playoffs. However, the sheer amount of depth of the Team Infused roster may be their downfall.

As much as I would like to seen an amazing match, realistically, I think Infused will be able to close out the series and make it to the Grand Finals.

Prediction: 3-0 Infused
