With the game now out in the wild, we have what we need to piece together the above Echoes of Mana tier list. It's very much a work in progress at the moment - higher rarity characters automatically appear further up the tier list based on the idea of star scaling - but we'll begin to swap out generic two and three-star characters for a wider select of four-star characters as more release.

Echoes (characters) can ascend to six-star rarity with player input, though, so it's entirely possible that a relatively common two-star unit could scale better than a base four-star unit. It'll take some time to properly gauge the potential of the game's already long list of characters, however, so don't take the above Echoes of Mana tier list as absolute until the game has had some time to mature.

Power creep in a gacha game is one thing, but new boss mechanics can sometimes even cause initially terrible characters to find their niche.

Who is the best Echoes of Mana character?

Again, there's every chance this could be a completely incorrect take given how new the game is yet. Echoes of Mana is a spawling gacha service game with deep systems that we all need some time to come to grips with.

For now, it's relatively safe to assume that characters like Sumo (Light Sword), Angela (Water Staff), Shiloh (Dark Sword), and Popoi (Fire Boomerang) are worth using if you manage to pull them. They're the hardest echoes to get in terms of draw rate, and there has to be a reason for that.

On the slightly lower end of the scale would be the game's first rate-up characters: Riesz (Wind Polearm) and Duran (Earth Sword). You still have a relatively low chance of obtaining them through the rate-up banner, but it wouldn't make sense for the game to boost the chances of getting the game's best starting units right out of the gate, making these two good, but not the greatest.

How do I get more Echoes of Mana characters?

For the most part, new characters in Echoes of Mana are obtained through a traditional gacha system. You'll see this play out during the initial tutorial, but you'll get to do a couple of ten-pulls yourself as soon as you gain proper menu control.

Performed through the "Harvest" menu, pulling for Echoes of Mana characters requires either 3k Crystals (2.7k for launch) - that gets you a ten-pull summon with a guaranteed three-star unit.

If you have a summon ticket of any sort, this can be used first to the same effect. Summon tickets tend to come from promotional campaigns or event rewards, whereas crystals can come from both those places as well as general story completion and myriad other places.

When is the Echoes of Mana release date?

Echoes of Mana released on April 27, 2022. The game went up for download the day before, with the servers going live in the early hours of the next morning.

And that's about everything you need to know about the Echoes of Mana tier list right now. It's set to change continuously as the game matures, releases new characters, and any little quirks are worked out in regards to team synergy and optimal strategies, so do bookmark the page and check back often.

New characters will likely drop every week or so, which will disrupt the tier list in a major way over time - gacha games are predictable like that. And be sure to check out our best gacha games list if you're ever in the market for a new on-the-go pastime. There's no shortage of them this year.
