Going for a 4K TV was a simple solution, and with Xbox One it was perfect...but then next-gen came along and with it, some interesting alternatives.

The pull of monitors appears to be increasing, and more console owners are gravitating towards them with the hopes of realising the incredible framerates and resolutions the Xbox Series X has to offer.

So let's take a look at some of our picks if you're diving into the world of monitors for Xbox Series X, and remember, HDMI 2.1 monitors are incoming soon, so if you want to check out what's on the horizon, head over to our top picks right here.

Getting the most out of Xbox Series X with a monitor

To get the most out of Xbox Series X, you will need to get a monitor which can handle either 8K at 60hz or 4K at 120Hz, which will mean that you'll need an HDMI 2.1 monitor.

Now even though there are some amazing HDMI 2.1 cables out there, HDMI 2.1 monitors are not commonplace at the time of writing, however, we're expecting to see them come out in the near future.

The good news is that you don't necessarily need an HDMI 2.1 monitor for 120hz gaming, with one option appearing to prove popular involving going for a lower resolution at higher framerates.

One example of this could be 1080p at 120Hz, which would be a good choice for those looking to play either racing or FPS titles.

So for right now,1080p at 120Hz, 1440p at 120hz or 4K at 60hz would appear to be the most common monitor options available for the Xbox Series X gamers out there.
