Cyberpunk 2077 Is "In The Middle Of" Returning To The PlayStation Store

According to reports, CD Projekt Red is already working on re-releasing Cyberpunk 2077 on the PlayStation Store after Sony removed it last year. Cyberpunk 2077, released in December 2020, has become notorious for its disastrous launch. Even though the game had been heavily hyped, it eventually released with numerous bugs and disappointments.

However, the quality of Cyberpunk 2077 has improved steadily regardless of its troubled beginnings. Nevertheless, it doesn't meet the level of expectation that CD Projekt Red set before launch. Unfortunately, it will be quite some time before Cyberpunk 2077 can reach its potential. Nevertheless, that is not to say it is not playable today since it certainly is.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been the subject of many conversations because the developer and Sony

Aside from patching all of the issues, CD Projekt Red has hired a new director to oversee the project. Oddly, the director who allowed the game to be released in such a poor state wasn't immediately moved away to show good faith. Despite its efforts to make amends for past mistakes, CD Projekt Red has not done enough.

Sony seems to agree that the game should be better because they have yet to allow it back onto their platform. Stephen Totilo tweeted out what CD Projekt Red said during its recent Q1 earnings call.

To quote a CD Projekt Red exec:

"We cannot go into the details of where we are with that. But there is a process. We're in the middle of [it]...conversations happening...the decision will be announced when it's ready to be announced… there are metrics that Sony needs (CDPR) to hit..."

Assumedly, Sony is looking for Cyberpunk to sell well enough to come back to the store because, in that way, fans will see if the title has been redeemed. CD Projekt Red would not have mentioned more hurdles Sony needed if they were really "in the middle" of bringing Cyberpunk 2077 back to the PlayStation Store. The executive probably did not want to scare anyone into thinking that the game would never return to the PlayStation Store.

When and How will Cyberpunk 2077 come back to the PlayStation Store?

At this point, no specific date has been mentioned as to when the process is expected to be completed. In fact, it was simply stated that "the decision shall be announced once it is complete." I wouldn't hold my breath based on that answer.

CD Projekt Red wasn't open about giving any other details about Sony's conditions. Cyberpunk 2077's return to the PlayStation Store is, without a doubt, CDPR's biggest priority right now. As a result of the game's high-profile removal from the store in December, consumers and investors alike lost a great deal of faith.

A report from CD Projekt Red showed that its profits fell more than 60% due to Cyberpunk 2077, its biggest depletion. There is no doubt that CDPR will be hoping Cyberpunk 2077's eventual return to the PlayStation Store will enhance its perceived value and sales potential.
We will report on this if any more details are given.
