The Counter Strike: Global Offensive World Championships are set to take place from May 18th all the way through to October 8th, with a grand total of 77 teams representing their nation and battling it out for a share of the minimum $100,000 prize pool. The purse available is expected to increase dramatically, with community purchases boosting the total in a similar method to DOTA 2's The International tournament.

Continental qualifiers will take place in Europe, South America, North America, Asia, Africa and Australia, with the top 16 rosters moving forward to face off against one another at the event finals, taking place in Belgrade, Serbia. The event is a possible by a partnership between Hitbox and E-Frag.
