Many users were quick to point out Buterin's earlier remark about crypto entering the bear market, connecting the following statement with his bear costume.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Buterin was seen discussing crypto winter, a term denoting the drop in prices of crypto without any sign of recovery in sight for a year.
He later added how the crypto winter can actually help cryptocurrencies benefit in the long term.
The people who are deep into crypto, and especially building things, a lot of them welcome a bear market. They welcome the bear market because when there are these long periods of prices moving up by huge amounts like it does -it does obviously make a lot of people happy - but it does also tend to invite a lot of very short-term speculative attention.
The winters are the time when a lot of those applications fall away and you can see which projects are actually long-term sustainable, like both in their models and in their teams and their people.
Before this, Buterin was also spotted wearing Shiba Inu Pyjamas that drew speculation from SHIB holders, who have previously questioned whether Buterin is Ryoshi, the anonymous founder of Shiba Inu.
However, Buterin's eccentric fashion statement did not impact the prices of Shiba Inu as some may have hoped. Maybe that crypto winter is on the way.
