NFTs have forged a new dimension in the field of digital assets and are now counted as a valuable investment alternative in today's digital world, with the most expensive NFT sales reaching millions of dollars.

Projects such as the Bored Ape Yacht Club and CryptoPunk NFTs, for example, have shown that new NFT projects can quickly become worth huge amounts, prompting an influx of individuals attempting to create their own NFTs.

So, with the NFT market having reached new heights already in 2022, let's take a look at some of the most expensive NFT sales.

Most Expensive NFTs

While the likes of Bored Ape Yacht Club may hold the title for the most expensive NFT collection, individual NFTs outside the standard profile picture realm hold the record. These include The Merge, Everydays, and Clock.

Let's take a closer look.

Pak's- The Merge

While this may be disputed, digital artist Pak's creation called The Merge broke NFT records when it was sold at a whopping price of $91.8 million in December 2021.

The Merge was created by a famous visual artist called Pak, who is known to be actively involved in the digital arena for the past 20 years.

However, the slight discrepancy here is that Pak's artwork was sold in units called "masses". 28,983 collections hold a section of the merge, with auction prices starting at $575.

So, while it is technically the most expensive NFT sale collectively, some may dispute this when looking at individual transactions.

Everydays-The First 5000 Day

Created by a digital artist called Beeple, Beeple's Everydays- The First 5000 days is an incredible NFT piece that was sold at $69.3 million.

Beeple, who is a well-acclaimed artist in the NFT space, took a pledge in 2007 to paint one NFT artwork every day to create a collage of 5000 pieces. This concluded in his final Everydays- The First 5000 Days NFT.

Clock

The Clock is another striking work of renowned NFT artist Pak in association with Julian Assange.

The Clock NFT piece is literally a clock that updates every day to showcase how long WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been imprisoned.

The goal of the NFT was to boost funds for the release of Assange from jail. It was auctioned to AssangeDAO for $52.7 million.
