In a tweet from the official Playstation account, the manufacturer noted "unprecedented" demand and noted more stock is incoming before the end of 2020.

Considering the success of the PS2 and PS4, this is an impressive milestone – doubly so when considering the current global pandemic that's undoubtedly affected supply chains.

The PS4 sold 7.6 million consoles in its first year on the market, and Sony has previously stated it expects PS5 to surpass that number in the same timeframe.
