Up until now, we've had little information about a specific release date and has simply been touted for a Holiday 2020 launch.

With each passing day the PS5 vs Xbox Series X debate heats up and the PS5 is falling behind due to the great marketing campaign the Xbox Series X has put on so far; this could be a big bonus for Sony.

With this new information, we're one step closer to getting a confirmed date.

When Is The PS5 Release Date?

According to a Japanese job listing, discovered by @Nibellion, the PS5 is scheduled to release in October 2020.

The new job listing describes the successful candidate as someone that would be in charge of purchasing prototype hardware for PlayStation products, including the PS5.

The Xbox Series X is rumoured to arrive in November, putting the PS5 at a clear advantage for those eager to jump onto the next-generation of gaming ASAP.

Japanese magazine Famitsu has reportedly contacted Sony Japan about this discovery and has confirmed that the date is in fact inaccurate.

According to a Google-translated statement, it was a mistake due to the recruitment site and not the content that was written by the company.

PlayStation Studios

Although this seems unfortunate, Sony has announced that it has created a new umbrella brand called PlayStation Studios - uniting all first-party titles and launch alongside the PS5.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, this new branding will be used only for those games developed and managed by Sony.

"Any future games it releases on other platforms will also carry the branding," said Sony's senior vice president and head of global marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

What's interesting is that the video shows The Last of Us, God of War, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and LittleBigPlanet. It would be unusual to use these titles without any immediate intention to create a new game within these franchises for the new console, but this is simple speculation.
