COD 2021 Name: Call of Duty: WWII Vanguard Leaked


The Call of Duty rumour mill has been sent into overdrive after a report allegedly revealed the working title for Call of Duty 2021.

First reported by ModernWarzone, several sources have confirmed that the working title for the next instalment in the first-person shooter franchise is named WWII: Vanguard, confirming a return to the setting for the first time since 2017.

There have been plenty of rumours surrounding the setting of COD 2021, and even some fans calling for the return of the controversial jetpack movement mechanics.

As a working title, there is every possible chance that it will be changed as the game nears its release which is expected in Q4 of 2021.

Since Activision confirmed the release of a new Call of Duty title in its 2020 Q4 earnings call, there have been numerous leaks and rumours surrounding where the franchise could be heading next.

Some pointed towards the game being set in the 1950s while others reported that the game would be returning to World War 2 and based off this most recent report, it looks like another World War 2 title is on the cards.

As per the report, the working title “does not confirm that there are 0 links to the Korean War throughout the game” suggesting that the war could well play a part at some point during the storyline.

Despite no official confirmation from Activision, it is widely believed that Sledgehammer Games will be spearheading the development of WWII: Vanguard.

The news doesn’t come as a surprise as the developer was responsible for the development of 2017s World War 2 title. The return to a World War 2 setting was a big deal for the franchise as it marked the return of boots-on-the-ground Call of Duty after three years of games utilising advanced movement mechanics.

COD 2021 Reveal Date

While these details all sound very exciting, we are a long way off when it comes to finding out any official information surrounding COD 2021.

Based on the reveal schedule for Black Ops Cold War, there’s every chance that a reveal won’t take place until August at the earliest.
