When Is The Nuke Event In Warzone?

Ever since a nuclear missile was discovered in Bunker 10, players have been wondering whether it will be launched, paving the way for a brand-new Warzone map.

With the launch of Season 2, three missile silos opened up across Verdansk, with one of the silos containing another missile that looks primed for launch.

Many thought that an event would take place on March 11th to celebrate the first anniversary of the battle royale, but when there was no sign of a nuke launching.

When exactly is the nuke event taking place? Here’s everything you need to know.

When Is The Nuke Event In Warzone Happening?

We're expecting it to occur on the 21st April 2021 - this is when the current season ends and Season 3 will begin.

Season 3 is expected to be when the new map is finally implemented.

As mentioned above, March 11th marked a year since Warzone made its way into the Call of Duty universe but there were no changes to the playlist or any subtle hints that were made to commemorate the first anniversary of the battle royale.

Despite the lack of in-game teasers and no mention of an in-game event taking place anytime soon, Warzone publisher Activision released a blog that covered the several highlights that have taken place over the last 12 months.

The final paragraphs of the post were the ones that grabbed the attention of the community:

"It seems that after a year of smooth sailing, Warzone may have to prepare for a threat never before seen in Verdansk, and any Operators who wish to survive might need to save the celebration for another time and get back in the fight before it’s too late.

Once again, thanks to you, the community, for being with us for the past year of Warzone. With Season Two’s story continuing through the game’s one-year milestone, we cannot wait to share with you what’s in store for the year to come… but it’ll be better for you to experience it for yourself.

The two paragraphs mention the continuing outbreak of Zombies that first appeared from the confines of the Vodianoy ship.

Current theories suggest that the Zombies will eventually take control of Verdansk, leading to the detonation of the nuke in an event likely to be similar to the “Know Your History” event which took place to reveal the first trailer for Black Ops Cold War.

First reported by VGC, the nuke event is rumoured to be taking place on April 22nd, tying in with the end of Season 2 and the beginning of Season 3.
