Warzone: Leatherface and Billy the Puppet come to Call of Duty for Halloween-themed ‘Haunting of Verdansk’ event

For some folks, Halloween is synonymous with the slasher-horror genre — movies like John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978), Tobe Hooper’s Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), Scream (1996), and so on.

Halloween night usually means swarms of people dressing up in costumes and putting on masks, and there’s something both compelling and terrifying about seeing Michael Myers making his way through a parade of trick-or-treaters, knife in hand, without anyone batting an eye.

Call of Duty: Warzone will celebrate this year’s scariest holiday about how you’d expect: with a couple of movie-themed cosmetic bundles and a horde of zombies. Sounds like a good time.

Leatherface Warzone bundle

“Operators have been briefed about reports concerning a serial killer who wears his victim’s faces on his own. There’s scattered intel about strange sounds emanating from various locations within the warzone; and not least the piercing, creepy laugher of a ventriloquist doll,” Activision writes in a new blog post.

“It isn’t long before hell breaks loose: One by one, the squad is brutally picked off until there is just one survivor, who after a confrontation with Verdansk’s own urban legend, vows to return under the cover of night and avenge his brothers in arms.”

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre bundle (or “Leatherface bundle,” as it’ll inevitably be called) includes a Leatherface skin for the Velikan operator as well as an LMG blueprint called “Family Heirloom,” which Leatherface can hold down low, like a chainsaw.

The pack also comes with a slaughterhouse-style melee weapon, an SMG blueprint, a vehicle horn, and five more Massacre-themed items.

Saw Warzone bundle

The Saw bundle comes with a Billy the Puppet skin for Morte, a piece of lethal equipment called “The Phlebotomozier.” It’s “a special throwing knife will drill into your enemies upon impact,” Infinity Ward says.

This bundle also includes an assault rifle blueprint, a shotgun, a cargo-truck skin, a tricycle weapon charm, and four other Jigsaw-themed cosmetics.

Both movie-themed bundles will hit the store when the “Haunting of Verdansk” event goes live on October 20.

Warzone’s Halloween 2020 festivities — including nighttime event modes, the undead, and more — run through November 3.
