The AK-47 assault rifle features two different versions in Warzone. The Cold War iteration of the assault rifle performs very well in comparison to its Modern Warfare counterpart thanks to its immense damage output and ease of control in mid-range engagements.
With regular changes to the meta taking place and with Season 4 Reloaded in its early stages, there is every chance that Cold War's AK-47 keeps its place in the Warzone meta.
But what are the best attachments to equip? Find out in our guide!
Best AK-47 Cold War Warzone Loadout Overview
While the Modern Warfare AK-47 isn’t one of the best ARs to use in Warzone, the Black Ops Cold War version could well be the rifle of choice for many aggressive players. With one of the highest damage statistics in its category, the AK excels in mid-range combat, and thanks to its consistent rate of fire, it can also make an impact in close-quarters scenarios. Although its performance is solid at close and mid-range, the drop-off in damage means it is difficult to succeed when attempting to take down an opponent from long-distance.
Thanks to the Gunsmith, there are ways of reducing the drop-off to make this iteration of the AK-47 dominate in the majority of situations.
AK-47 Cold War Warzone Best Attachments
- Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
- Barrel: 18.2” VDV Reinforced
- Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock
- Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Grip
- Ammo: 45 Rnd
This attachment combination improves recoil levels and increases the performance of the weapon at long range. The reinforced barrel increases both effective damage range and bullet velocity while the Spetsnaz grip reduces the recoil, steadying the weapon when engaging with a target far away.
Best Secondary to Use With This AK-47 Loadout
Even if you have a great AK47 Warzone setup you will still need to have a reliable sidearm for backup. Here's the best choice that we've found so far.
1911 (Black Ops Cold War)
- Muzzle: Infantry Compensator
- Barrel: 6.45” Reinforced Heavy
- Laser: Steady Aim Laser
- Rear grip: Speed Tape
- Magazine: Fast Mag
For our secondary weapon, we selected the 1911 from Black Ops Cold War. In comparison to the Modern Warfare 1911, the Black Ops Cold War iteration comes with a slightly faster rate of fire which is ideal when stuck in a close-quarters conundrum.
- Frag Grenade (Lethal)
- Heartbeat Sensor (Tactical)
It’s important to select a combination of equipment that will assist you on your way to the Warzone victory helicopter. The frag grenade is extremely versatile thanks to the ability to cook it, leaving no time for the enemy to escape its explosive radius.
Finally, the heartbeat sensor can play a pivotal role when breaching a building or even locating any enemies that could be within the area.
- Cold-Blooded (Perk 1)
- Restock (Perk 2)
- Battle Hardened (Perk 3)
This particular Perk combination is different from other selections but each one has its place to help you succeed.
Cold-Blooded keeps you hidden from any thermal optics, Restock resupplies your grenade every 50 seconds, and Battle Hardened provides increased resistance to any enemy flash and stun grenades that come your way.
Is the AK47 From Cold War Good in Warzone?
The immense power of the AK-47 makes it a strong weapon to use in close-range and mid-range engagements, which is why I would recommend using it as a secondary weapon alongside either a sniper rifle or another AR that dominates at longer distances. The outright mobility enables you to content with an SMG but the damage output often gives you the upper hand during a gunfight.
I would recommend giving Cold War's AK-47 a spin! If you're looking for more help with Warzone be sure to check out our guide on what weapons are coming to the game in Season 4. Elsewhere there's our look at speeding up download times for new updates.
