Scump Unveils Vanguard MP40 Ranked Play Loadout

Ranked Play in Vanguard provides a competitive alternative to standard multiplayer action. Complete with Skill Rating and Divisions, the mode utilises the rules and restrictions used in the 2022 Call of Duty League.

With three game modes, a limited map pool, and significantly smaller lobby sizes, Ranked Play caters to those looking to get their competitive Call of Duty fix.

With several players on the hunt for the very best loadouts to use, OpTic Texas's Seth 'Scump' Abner has shared his loadout for the MP40 submachine gun and it's safe to say that it's up there with the very best.

Scump MP40 Ranked Play Attachments

With Ranked Play using the exact restrictions included in the official CDL ruleset and the unofficial Gentlemen's Agreement (GA), this particular set of attachments is slightly different to other MP40 builds.

  • Muzzle: No. 3 Rifle Brake
  • Barrel: Krausnick 317mm 04B
  • Stock: Krausnick 33M Folding
  • Underbarrel: SMLE Pistol Grip
  • Ammo Type: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip
  • Proficiency: Brace
  • Kit: Quick

The build only uses eight of the ten attachment slots that are available but the lack of optic and magazine don't hinder performance whatsoever.

This combination focuses on increasing levels of accuracy, improving the viability of the MP40 at longer distances and having used it in several competitive matches, the SMG can even compete with the Automaton assault rifle in some instances.

Best MP40 Ranked Play Loadout

Once Scump's set of attachments is applied, selecting Perks, Equipment, and Field Upgrade often depends on the game mode. Here's the best Perks, Equipment, and Field Upgrades to use alongside the MP40.

Perks

  • Survival Training / Fortified / Ninja (Perk 1)
  • Radar (Perk 2)
  • Double Time (Perk 3)

Depending on the scenario, Survival Training, Fortified, and Ninja are the best Perks to use in the Perk 1 slot.

In addition, Radar in the Perk 2 slot is a no-brainer in order to spot any unsuppressed gunfire on the minimap.

Lastly is Double Time, which doubles the length of Tactical Sprint which allows you to navigate the map as fast as possible.

Equipment

  • Lethal: MK2 Frag Grenade
  • Tactical: No 69 Stun Grenade

With most Equipment in Vanguard Ranked Play restricted, the combination of Frag Grenade and Stun Grenade is the best to use. Throw the Frag Grenade next to a bombsite on Search & Destroy to prevent any defuse and utilise the stun to slow the movements of any opponent attempting to navigate the map.

Field Upgrade

  • Dead Silence

There's only one viable Field Upgrade for Vanguard Ranked Play and it's Dead Silence. The temporary silencing of footsteps allows you to flank behind enemy lines to set up a pinch in addition to escaping an enemy hot on your heels.

Is The MP40 Good in Vanguard Ranked Play?

Compared to the other SMGs available, the MP40 is the best to use by a considerable margin thanks to its amazing versatility. Whether it's close-quarters engagements on a Hardpoint hill or a mid-range duel to open up a specific area of the map, the MP40 is capable of doing it all.
