With the Call of Duty Next event right around the corner, we may hear more about Modern Warfare 2 SBMM.
In the meantime, don't forget to take a look at the Modern Warfare 2 guns list for a sneak peek at the new arsenal of weapons.
The topic of skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) is often discussed within the Call of Duty community, with many wanting it to be toned down or removed altogether to create a more casual experience for players of all skill levels. SBMM has featured in Black Ops Cold War and will feature in Call of Duty Vanguard, splitting the opinions of the community once again.
Even though there are several months until the launch of Modern Warfare 2 leaks on the game are already beginning to emerge. Along with information on guns and multiplayer maps, information on whether Modern Warfare 2 will feature SBMM has also appeared. With that said, will multiplayer feature SBMM?
Will Modern Warfare 2 Have SBMM?
Information on Modern Warfare 2's SBMM comes from leaker @RalphsValve, who has already uncovered a wealth of information surrounding the next instalment of the Modern Warfare series.
Players that want to get rid of SBMM in Call of Duty better look away now, as Modern Warfare 2 will use the matchmaking feature in its multiplayer.
Alongside SBMM, the leaker claims that there are plans to add pools of bots into certain lobbies, making some multiplayer matches PvPvE (Player v Player v Environment). The new system will reportedly enable the game to prevent smurf accounts from accessing lower-level lobbies, guaranteeing a competitive match on every occasion.
As with most Modern Warfare leaks, take it with a pinch of salt until Infinity Ward shares more information on what it has in store. Considering most Call of Duty multiplayer titles use SBMM in some capacity, there's a high chance of it appearing once again.
What Is SBMM?
SBMM allows players to drop into matches against others of a similar skill level. For those that love a battle against closely-matched opposition, the feature is great but for those that just want to jump into the action for a bit of fun, the last thing you want to hear is that the game will contain SBMM.
Many believe the standard multiplayer matches shouldn't contain SBMM so matches contain a diverse range of skill levels and the feature should only feature in Ranked play to guarantee competitive matches.
Either way, there's a high chance plenty of SBMM debates will take place within the community.
